A Buchanan, Mich., middle school won $3,000 and some face time on the Internet in a competition sponsored by the $433 million Honor Credit Union in St. Joseph, Mich.

Buchanan Middle School's entry won the 39,300-member credit union's first Video Challenge competition. The idea was to create a 30- to 60-second video highlighting Honor CU and its contributions to the community.

The winning video will be featured on the credit union's website, Facebook and YouTube pages and local Moore Theaters later this year, the credit union said.

“I am so proud of the students, their hard work and creativity.  This award will go a long way to enhance our current Tech Club program.” said teacher and Tech Club Director Brian Brown.  “We thank Honor Credit Union for supporting financial literacy and technology in our community schools.”

South Haven High School in South Haven, Mich., won the second place prize of $1,000. Honor CU serves 14 Michigan counties.

“We are very proud to be able to create yet another way to partner with our local schools, and with the great submissions we received this year, we are very excited about how our Video Challenge can grow,” said Marketing Director Jeff Pisarsky.
