A winter storm Wednesday caused several credit unions to close early in the northern Virginia and Richmond areas.
Credit unions reporting closings were the $266 million Fairfax County FCU in Fairfax, the $205 million Arlington Community FCU in Arlington, the $1.4 billion State Department FCU in Alexandria, the $1.7 billion Apple FCU in Fairfax, and the $334 million Call FCU in Richmond, according to the Virginia Credit Union League in Lynchburg.
In addition, the $2.3 billion Virginia CU in North Chesterfield closed most of its branches at 2 p.m. and the $298 million Belvoir FCU closed all of its branches today except its main branch in Woodbridge, reported the VCUL.
The Weather Channel said the storm might generate 12 to 24 inches of snow in parts of northeast West Virginia, northern Virginia, western and central Maryland and the extreme sections of south-central Pennsylvania. Heavy snow also is expected to hit parts of southern New England, southeast New York and New Jersey Wednesday evening, Thursday and Friday.
