The $5.2 billion Alaska USA Federal Credit Union said more than 6,400 members already have signed up and begun using its new mobile remote deposit checking offering.
The add-on to the 460,000-member credit union's mobile banking service is from FIS, Alaska USA said, and allows members to use Android or Apple smartphones to make up to 10 deposits or $3,000 in deposits per day, with approval generally within one business day.
“With the app, members can make deposits whether they're two or two thousand miles from a branch. said Geoff Lundfelt, Alaska USA's executive director, Retail Financial Services.
Alaska USA said the mobile RDC is the first from an Alaska-based credit union. The Anchorage-based credit union currently has 64 branches in Alaska, Washington and California.
