To help navigate what can sometimes be a maze of information to start a business, Generations Federal Credit Union has launched its Small Business Boot Camp.
The eight-week series from the $404 million Generations FCU in San Antonio includes classes on small business overview, the business plan, financials and projections and entity formation.
The small business overview class will provide participants with an understanding of how to research business-relevant data, trends and consumer statistics, business types as well as formation, and where to get help along the way, according to Generations FCU.
The business plan will discuss how to create a detailed business plan that will serve as a guide for starting and navigating their businesses.
Financials and projections will provide essentials for understanding and reading an income and balance sheet and develop a break-even analysis.
The final class, entity formation, will enable attendees to determine the business structure that best fits their needs, and one that will help them protect their personal assets, the credit union said.
“Small business owners should never have to face the countless hurdles, stress and difficulties by themselves. So our goal is to be their financial advocate, to offer step-by-step assistance throughout the process, and to put them on the right path so they can grow and succeed and in turn our community can grow and succeed,” said David Rodriguez, financial education advocate for Generations FCU.
The small business boot camp will take place Feb. 7, Feb. 21, Feb. 28 and March 28 at Generations FCU. The cost of the eight-week course is $40, according to the credit union.
