Community members with a variety of interests and passions are being invited to apply for one of several available spots on the Latitude 32 Credit Union's new team of spokespersons, the Charleston, S.C., credit union said.
"The goal is not to acquire paid spokespeople for the credit union, but rather to give the influencers of our community a voice on the topics they are passionate about," said Latitude 32 President Brad Rustin.
"Our secondary goal is for the Lat 32 Crew to share with their friends and family various ways that Latitude 32 has not only helped them personally, but made an impact in our local community," Rustin explained.

Recent surveys suggest that an overwhelming majority of consumers don't necessarily believe traditional paid advertising anymore, said Mark Dudley, vice president of branding and communication for Your Marketing Co., the Greenville, S.C., firm handling the Lat 32 Crew project.
"We want to encourage members to take ownership of the message of Latitude 32 Credit Union and tell their personal stories on a level that their friends and family understand and relate to" Dudley said.
Latitude 32 said it will open the application process for the Lat 32 Crew beginning Friday and close at 11:59 p.m. on March 15.
Applicants will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Activity with civic and social organizations
- Use of grammar
- Ability to use various social media channels
- Availability to participate in community and credit union events
Interested applicants are being directed to apply online at www.lat32crew.com. Those chosen to represent the Latitude 32 brand as part of the "Lat 32 Crew" will be announced in April and attend community events to speak on behalf of issues and organizations they are passionate about on behalf of Latitude 32.
The Lat 32 Crew members will also have the opportunity to appear in Latitude 32 marketing campaigns throughout the remainder of 2013. Rewards and incentives will also be offered for Lat 32 Crew members that demonstrate a commitment to making a difference in the Charleston community, the credit union said.
The $50 million Latitude 32 CU serves more than 8,000 members.
