The $1.1 billion Vantage West Credit Union said it was recently recognized for being the top SBA 504 lender in Southern Arizona.

In honor of the lending award, the Tucson, Ariz.-based credit union was named “The Gold Institution” by the Business Development Finance Corp., a SBA Premier Certified lender and a private, nonprofit entity that provides financing to Arizona businesses.

BDFC provides SBA 504 tools and resources. The corporation said it has financed more than $1 billion in projects since 1979.

During a recent SBA awards ceremony, which was held for honorees and attendees representing financial institutions of all sizes from across southern Arizona, Jim Barron, assistant vice president of business lending services, and Melissa Galus, business development officer, both from Vantage West, received top lending recognitions.

“These awards demonstrate Vantage West's commitment to local businesses and our mission to be the best,” said Robert Ramirez, President/CEO of Vantage West.

The credit union serves nearly 117,000 members.
