Jenny Serrambana, a virtual branch expert from the $438 million People's Trust Federal Credit Union in Houston, will be spending two weeks in the Dominican Republic later this month, courtesy of the World Council of Credit Unions.
Serrambana is one of 11 U.S. credit union employees and the only one from Texas chosen to participate in the International Credit Union Leadership Program, her 38,000-member employer said.
The World Council program chose participants in an application process that required essays and phone interviews in English and Spanish and the CEO's recommendation. Serrambana applied for the cultural diversity and leadership development program because of her interest in finding ways to better serve the large Latino community in Houston, People's Trust FCU said.
“Jenny truly believes in the credit union's philosophy and is always looking out for the greater good of the member. She is frequently requested for service by many of our members, particularly our Spanish speakers, and has received numerous, positive member comments,” said People's Trust President/CEO Angela McCathran.
The International Credit Union Leadership Program is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Office of Citizen Exchanges, and is part of the larger U.S. Department of State Professional Fellows Program.
