The $1.2 billion Gesa Credit Union will be deploying five personal teller machines at two of its five branches in the first quarter of 2013, making it the first credit union in the Pacific Northwest to use the machines from uGenius in Salt Lake City.

The machines will give the 111,000 members of Gesa CU the ability to interact with a live teller through two-way video, handling typical transactions such as deposits, paying bills, transfers and cashing checks.

The credit union, meanwhile, will see a decrease in its branch costs and improved operational efficiencies through use of the video tellers, the company and credit union said.

“This technology allows our members to connect with our virtual experts who can assist them with all their transactional needs. We anticipate a significant return on our investment from the system as we increase member growth, overall deposits, and net income,” said Christina Lethlean, president/ CEO of Gesa.

“Financial institutions that have implemented our video banking solution are able to increase service hours and are seeing decreased transaction times and increased membership,” said Gene Pranger, CEO of uGenius.
