Three credit unions — the $126.5 million Municipal Employees Credit Union of Oklahoma City, the $46 million Central Communications Credit Union of Independence, Mo., and the $192.5 million Texell Credit Union of Temple, Texas — have announced their adoption of mobile banking services.
Sharetec Systems, Inc., a Lino Lakes, Minn.-based core data system vendor serving around 300 credit unions, said Municipal Employees CU of Oklahoma City and Central Communications CU both plan to go live with a mobile banking solution from Sharetec partner Data Systems in Waco, Texas, in the first quarter of 2013. The implementations will allow both credit unions to add remote deposit capture services, Sharetec said.
Texell CU said it has introduced a free mobile banking app that enables members to check their account balances, view their transaction histories, make transfers and loan payments, deposit checks, and locate nearby branches and ATMs.
“We are excited to extend mobile banking services to our members,” said Tony Hale, president/CEO for Texell CU. “Offering new technology that exceeds our member's expectations is a top priority and we believe that our mobile banking app is a great addition to our financial services.”
In addition, a fourth credit union, the $61.7 million First Financial Credit Union of Skokie, Ill., reported a high adoption rate for the mobile app it introduced in 2012. A user of CU*BASE, a core processing system from technology CUSO CU*Answers in Grand Rapids, Mich., First Financial CU implemented an app solution from CU*Answers partner CU Mobile Apps, the CUSO said.
“Since offering the app in early 2012, we've had tremendous usage amongst our membership,” said Patrick Basler, CEO for First Financial FCU. “Roughly 30% of our checking account members downloaded the app within the first few months.”
CU Mobile Apps is a product from Member Service Solutions, LLC, a Franklin, Tenn.-based company offering a variety of insurance and financial solutions to credit unions.
