The Connecticut Credit Union Charitable Foundation is accepting donations on behalf of the families hit by the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown last Friday.
"The foundation trustees will be working with Gov. Dannel Malloy's office in the coming weeks to identify an appropriate initiative by which to best help the families and honor the memories of those lost," the Connecticut Credit Union League said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
The league said the foundation was reacting "to the overwhelming response of many across the country, and their desire to support the families of those lost in last Friday's tragedy."

"As the families have requested, we are respecting their privacy at this time, but we expect to identify an actionable initiative for their benefit in the coming weeks," the league said.
