New England Patriots wide receiver Brandon Lloyd visited Lowell High School recently on behalf of the $978 million, 59,900-member Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union and the National Financial Educators Council's Money XLive. Lloyd toured the building escorted by student ambassadors and then spoke to more than 150 students gathered for a financial education presentation.
Lloyd, who signed a $12 million deal with the NFL team this year, focused on his financial history including early mistakes he advised students to avoid, such as overspending and failing to save for the future.
“It's time for you to start preparing yourselves for the world,” Lloyd said. “Once you view money as something that requires labor, you have more respect for it.”
After the assembly, Lloyd signed autographs, chatted with business students, and enjoyed lunch with students at the Massachusetts high school's restaurant.
