The $6.9 billion, 923,000-member Security Service Federal Credit Union in San Antonio said Monday it has promoted Jim Laffoon to president.

SSFCU said Laffoon will be responsible for daily operations and leadership and strategic direction for the credit union's more than 1,600 employees as it continues to grow in Texas, Colorado and Utah.

David Reynolds, who has led SSFCU since 1997, will remain CEO and continue to represent the credit union in industry, trade and community matters as well as member events, the credit union said in a statement.

Laffoon joined SSFCU in 1989 and has been executive vice president and chief operating officer since 2002. Over the years, he has served as primary strategist, corporate planner, technologist and operations manager.

Laffoon has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Texas and was a consultant with Arthur Andersen & Co. before joining SSFCU, the credit union said.
