The holiday season has been filled with tragedy for one Detroit-area family, but the season is becoming a little brighter with help from Community Choice Credit Union and a local radio station.

The Robinson family lost nearly everything when a fire swept through their Howell Township home on Nov.13. That included Arianna Rosemarie Robinson, 2, who died at the hospital due to complications from the smoke and burns.

Radio station 955, 'Mojo in the Morning' and the credit union's 120-plus team members raised $2,500. The money purchased home and personal necessities, including clothing, kitchen supplies and toys.

The credit union's fundraiser was part of a community-wide and beyond effort to help James and Amber Robinson and their surviving daughter, Jaslin, after the devastating blaze.

“Our prayers are with the Robinson family who suffered such a profound tragedy just a few weeks ago,” said Robert Bava, president/CEO of the $474 million, 50,500-member Community Choice Credit Union in suburban Farmington Hills.

“Our credit union and team members are grateful to Mojo in the Morning for the opportunity to help the Robinsons,” Bava said. “We hope our efforts can be part of the Robinsons' healing process and be a message to them that their community has their back and is ready to give big in their time of need.”
