The National Credit Union Foundation said it now has raised more than $230,000 to benefit credit union people affected by Hurricane Sandy.

As donations are posted through CUAid.coop, NCUF is coordinating with the New Jersey Credit Union League and the Credit Union Association of New York to distribute money efficiently to affected credit union employees and members.

“Over $100,000 has been distributed in aid to about 90 credit union members, employees and volunteers,” Christopher Morris, spokesman for the NCUF in Madison. Wis., said Tuesday. “We continue to receive applications for assistance through both leagues.”
