Arrowhead Credit Union, San Bernardino, Calif., honored Homeless Awareness Month by donating 250 bags with groceries for the homeless. The effort was spearheaded by Doribel Martinez, who works in collections for Arrowhead Credit Union.  Martinez’s idea grew to be an organization-wide effort. Arrowhead¹s Riverside Branch manager, Sam Clark, reached out to a local grocery store to have bags donated to collect the food; other team members volunteered to deliver the filled bags to a Mary’s Mercy Center, a local charity.

Christian Community Credit Union’s, San Dimas, Calif., held the first ever Office Olympics in conjunction with the 2012 Summer Olympics and raised $500 for the Special Olympics Southern California. To bring more value and significance to the Office Olympics festivities, employees donated five dollars in exchange for wearing jeans to work. Hosted by the Credit Union’s Social Committee, the day began with an Olympic Breakfast of Champions followed by Opening Ceremonies. Employees competed in two Olympic Games—the Discus Throw and a Water Relay Race. At the Closing Ceremonies, the Social Committee awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals to the winning teams and individuals.
