The $362 million First Commerce Credit Union in Tallahassee, Fla., raised more than $10,000 for the Capital Region YMCA to help support youth development in the community.
First Commerce collected donations by selling Champions for Charity T-shirts, encouraging its 37,600 members to donate, and hosting a variety of fundraisers such as a community yard sale, bake sales, ice cream socials, team member breakfasts, raffles and a chili contest.
“This promotion was all part of a plan to raise awareness and encourage the community to financially support the very important work of the YMCA,” said Cecilia Homison, president/CEO of First Commerce. The Y works to nurture the potential of children, promotes healthy living and fosters a sense of social responsibility
As part of the YMCA promotion, First Commerce CU partnered with the Florida State University Seminoles football team and Seminole IMG Sports Marketing to offer FSU fans a chance to win a behind-the-scenes access to the Seminole football program for a day.
The winners will receive a private facility tour, lunch in the athletic cafeteria and attend a practice. They also won pre-game access and game tickets to the Florida State-Florida football game on Nov. 24.
“Partnering with First Commerce was a wonderful experience,” said Ken Franklin, YMCA CEO. “They are dedicated and passionate about the work they do both in business and in the community.”
