CUNA is promising "fresh findings" on consumer attitudes toward holiday spending and household financial condition when it unveils its annual survey on the topic, conducted in conjunction with the Consumer Federation of America. The information will be released at a press event Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at the National Press Club in Washington, and will feature the CFA's Executive Director Stephen Brobeck and CUNA Chief Economist Bill Hampel.

The survey, in its thirteenth year, documents a change in spending attitudes as compared to previous years "as the economy continues to recover," CUNA said in a release. Consumers also compared their financial situation to one year ago, and responded to a new question asking if they have cash on hand to pay for an unexpected $1,000 expense. Findings will further include consumers' holiday spending plans and concern about paying off credit card balances.

Last year, 41% of consumers surveyed said they planned to spend less on Holiday gifts in 2011 than they did in 2010.
