Napa City Council will now count among its members a branch manager from the $2.1 billion Redwood Credit Union.

Alfredo Pedroza was elected last week by voters in the California community. He manages the Sonoma and Glen Ellen branches for the 222,500-member Redwood CU.

Pedroza said his priorities as a council member will include job creation, making the town affordable for families, promoting a healthy business environment, and improving Napa's transportation infrastructure.

“We are extremely proud of Alfredo, and are confident he will be a great asset as a City Council member for the people of Napa,” said Brett Martinez, president/CEO of Santa Rosa-based RCU.

Pedroza, who joined Redwood CU in 2009 as an assistant branch manager, is a bi-lingual graduate of Sonoma State University who has served on the boards of the Napa Valley and Sonoma County Hispanic chambers of commerce. He also is a member of the Napa County Gang and Youth Violence Commission and is active in numerous other local organizations, Redwood CU said.

“Redwood Credit Union is very committed to the communities we serve and we are supportive of RCU employees taking on leadership roles in local government and an on non-profit and community boards,” Martinez said.
