Robert P. Schroeder has been named CEO of the $131 million, 16,500-member Prince George's Community Federal Credit Union in Bowie, Md.
He succeeds Cindy Prestandrea, who retires Friday after 17 years on the job.
Schroeder had been vice president of lending and branch services at the $358 million Securityplus FCU in Baltimore since 2010. He also has been a vice president at Johns Hopkins and Atlantic Financial federal credit unions and a member service manager at BUCS FCU, his new employer said.
“Cindy Prestandrea has been a tremendous leader and will be a very tough act to follow, but with more than 25 years of successful management and leadership experience and a reputation for meeting the most challenging organizational goals and objectives, Robert is an outstanding choice for this position,” said Charlie Deegan, PGCFCU board chairman.
“At Securityplus FCU, Robert was responsible for shifting the direction of the retail staff to a sales and service environment,” Deegan added. “Under his direction, the Securityplus retail staff grew the credit union's loan portfolio by 8.2 percent in the past year alone.”
Schroder is a graduate of Towson University and Loyola College (now University) Maryland who began his career at First National Bank of Maryland.
