Cindy Prestandrea, CEO of the $131 million, 16,500-member Prince George's Community Federal Credit Union in Bowie, Md., will retire from her current post on Friday, but it's not the end of her life, she said.
"I'm not dying, I'm just retiring," she said laughing. "I've been in this business for 40 years, I think I can stop now."
Prestandrea has been the CEO at the Maryland credit union since 1995 and will help her successor – who has yet to be named – ease into the job by consulting and being on call until the end of the year.
