Fred Robinson has been named the new president/CEO of the Tennessee Credit Union League, replacing the retiring Tom Gaines, the league said.

Gaines will step aside at the end of the year and assist with the leadership transition at the TCUL in Chattanooga, Tenn. He has been with the league for 24 years and was formerly the CEO of Mutual Guaranty, a deposit insurer for state-chartered credit unions.

Robinson has been with then league for 29 years. As its vice president of governmental affairs for the past six years, he has led the league's lobbying efforts and its political action committee.

Robinson also is an advisory committee member for U.S. Rep. Stephen Fincher (R-Tenn.), as well as a committee member of the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, a member of the Tennessee Lobbyist Association, a member of the Tennessee State Political Action Committee and a member of the Tennessee Department of Financial Institution's Credit Union Task Force.
