The $1.6 billion UW Credit Union in Madison, Wis., said Tuesday it is providing loan payment relief to the 3,500 members it said were in the path of Hurricane Sandy.

“Upon request, members in the affected areas will be afforded up to three months of loan extension at no charge and late fees on loans and credit cards will be waived,” the 173,500-member credit union said.

UWCU also is providing a giving opportunity for members who want to help. From within its online banking site, members can donate directly to the American Red Cross and specify the gift for Hurricane Sandy relief.
