CUNA Mutual Group said Tuesday afternoon that is not yet received a lot of reports about Hurricane Sandy damage to credit unions it insured. But the company also said it expects that to change.

“Many of these credit unions are still not able to get to their facilities, so we don't know the extent, if any, of their damages,” said CMG spokesman Phil Tschudy.

“Most of the damage reports CUNA Mutual Group has received so far have been from credit unions not impacted by major flooding,” Tschudy said. “Those credit unions are reporting power outages and minor building damage. However, those we are most concerned about have locations in the storm surge/flood areas.”

Tschudy said credit union policyholders that have sustained damage are encouraged to contact CUNA Mutual Group's Property and Casualty Claims Disaster Team at (800) 637-2676. The phone line is answered live by a claims staff person 24X7, the spokesperson said.
