Russ Plunkett, who served as president/CEO of the $541 Postal Credit Union for 20 years, has retired.

Brian Sherrick, a 28-year employee of PCU, has been named the new CEO/president of the Woodbury, Minn.-based credit union.

Under Plunkett's leadership, PCU's assets grew from $109 million in 1992 to $541 million in 2012.

When he started in 1981 at PCU, electronic services consisted of the telephone and a few computer terminals. Today, PCU incorporates the latest technologies into its service offerings for members, the credit union said.

Plunkett also grew PCU's mortgage department to include loan origination, complete closing and title services, and mortgage servicing. He also added business services and opened three new offices in Eagan, Hugo and Woodbury, PCU said.

Earlier this year, Plunkett was inducted into the 2012 Credit Union House Hall of Leaders in Washington, D.C.

In September, he was honored as a Credit Union Builder by PCU through the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation.

Sherrick, Plunkett's successor, joined PCU in 1984 as a college intern. Prior to his promotion, he served as executive vice president of operations/lending and had oversight of mortgages, commercial services, business development, marketing and branches

Sherrick also serves as chairman of the PCU Community Foundation, and sits on the board of directors of the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation.
