The $3.4 billion Redstone Federal Credit Union of Huntsville, Ala. is in the process of replacing 75% of its PCs with virtual desktop computing solutions from Redwood City, Calif.-based Pano Logic over an 18-month period and has already seen a computing equipment cost savings of 60%, Pano Logic announced.
|Looking to reduce travel time associated with PC troubleshooting tasks and eliminate costly PC refresh cycles, Redstone FCU embarked on a two phase computing infrastructure improvement project that involves replacing about 460 PCs in its 22 branches with Pano Logic's desktop virtualization in phase one this year, and replacing another 300 department PCs in phase two in 2013, Pano Logic said.
"We started looking at Pano Logic because of the rising cost of replacing PCs every three years or so, but we immediately realized the benefits from centrally managing desktop computing, especially when the users are far away," said Lisa Whitt, assistant vice president of technology for Redstone FCU. "We are growing and planning to expand, including outside of Alabama, and we need something to help us manage end users remotely."
Pano Logic's Pano System for VDI is an end-to-end, virtual hardware and software desktop solution intended for users in a Windows environment. The solution uses a virtual endpoint device that eliminates endpoint management, storage, memory, security holes and moving parts, the company said.
