The $5.8 billion San Diego County Credit Union said it is the first financial institution in the country to offer live mobile chat to iPhone and Android smartphone users.

The service is through LivePerson Inc. in New York and Cisco is the only other user offering the live chat service on both the popular smartphone platforms, SDCCU said in a statement.

“Our customers who carry the iPhone or Android smartphones can now connect in real-time through seamless integration with a live SDCCU customer service representative for an enhanced customer experience,” said President/CEO Teresa Halleck.

LivePerson is providing the real-time service through a cloud-based platform.

“LivePerson has helped us extend our brand promise into the mobile space and engage both prospective and existing customers wherever they are,” Halleck said.
