Nine credit unions participated in the Kansas Credit Union Association Make A Difference campaign that gave $15,000 worth of gas to unsuspecting consumers throughout the state last week.
Consumers either received $25 worth of gas at participating service stations or a $25 gas gift card. The gifts were given to consumers in Ark City, Emporia, Topeka, Wichita, Winfield, and Warnego.
“Credit unions were founded on the idea of people helping people,” said Marla Marsh, President/CEO of the Kansas Credit Union Association. “As not for profit financial cooperatives, credit unions exist to support their members and their local communities.”
The credit unions that participated in the Make A Difference campaign were $58 million Kansas State University Federal Credit Union in Manhattan; $30 million Ark Valley Credit Union in Arkansas City; $828 million Meritrust Credit Union in Wichita; $26 million Catholic Family Federal Credit Union in Wichita; $78 million Wichita Federal Credit Union in Wichita; $73 million Central Star Credit Union in Wichita; $166 million Educational Credit Union in Topeka; $270 million Quest Credit Union in Topeka and $55 million Emporia State Federal Credit Union in Emporia.
Additional Make A Difference events are planned for 2013.
