Belco Community Credit Union, Harrisburg, Pa., held a ground breaking ceremony on the future site of the credit union’s new branch on Paxton Street, Harrisburg. About 20 professionals attended the ceremony, including Lonny Maurer, president/CEO of Belco Community Credit Union, who welcomed credit union and local officials to the site, where construction began in September. The new 3,290-square-foot facility was designed by Overton and Associates LLC to benefit credit union members as well as the local community. The new facility will replace an existing downtown Harrisburg branch on North Second Street. The new branch is scheduled to open late spring 2013 and will be located on the property of Belco’s Operations Center.

CorePlus Federal Credit Union, Norwich, Conn., said it plans to open two new locations in 2013. The full-service branches will be located inside the two Walmart Supercenter stores in northeastern Connecticut. The existing Walmart store on School Street is undergoing full refurbishment and transition into a Supercenter. The second location will be in the newly built Providence Pike Supercenter in Brooklyn, Conn.. It is anticipated that the stores will be ready by late fall 2013. Both store locations will provide CorePlus Credit Union with an opportunity to offer a full range of deposit and lending services, including “Loan Zone” consumer based loans, credit cards, home equity and mortgage products in a high traffic retail environment. Each location will offer an onsite ATM and nationwide shared branching services for members of participating credit unions.

Grow Financial, Tampa, Fla., announced that its 19th branch opened in downtown Tampa. The new branch is located on Tampa Street. The new downtown branch features an innovative and refreshing alternative to traditional bank lobby designs, a contemporary color scheme and unique interactive technology showcasing a new virtual money machine. In addition to the new downtown branch, Grow Financial also plans to open new branches in Lakeland and Wesley Chapel in 2012 and 2013.

Jersey Shore Federal Credit Union, Northfield, N.J., held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its newest office located in the Hamilton Mall. credit union board members, executives, staff, mall management and Hamilton Township officials were present to celebrate the event. Chairman John DiNofrio and Hamilton Township Mayor Roger Silva cut the ribbon, formally opening the new office. Jersey Shore FCU CEO Virginia Williams invited the community to participate in the celebration, citing grand opening specials that included CD specials, loan discounts, free checks, giveaways, and much more. The new branch features complimentary coffee and an Internet café. Jersey Shore Federal Credit now has a total of five offices and plans to open an office in Galloway Township in 2013.

Navy Federal Credit Union, Vienna, Va., opened its 14 location in Maryland at Governor’s Plaza in Glen Burnie, Md.. More than 21,000 local members, including the men and women of the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, the civilian employees of the Department of Defense and their families can now shorten their commute to their credit union, Navy Federal said. In celebration of the opening, members can receive exclusive offers such as specials on checking accounts and certificates.

OnPoint Community Credit Union, Portland, Ore., announced the opening of a new branch in Sellwood on SE 13th Avenue in Portland. A grand opening event with special activities included refreshments and the chance to enter to win a prize drawing for $500 in gift cards for SE Portland neighborhood merchants. Kevin Kelly has been named as manager of the Sellwood branch. He will be responsible for managing branch staff, coordinating day-to-day operations, attending community events, increasing loan activity and developing new business relationships. Kelly has been with OnPoint for six years, most recently as assistant branch manager at Lloyd Center branch.

Pen Air Federal Credit Union, Pensacola, Fla., announced the opening of its newest branch. The branch opened last month and on South McKenzie Avenue in Foley, Ala. It will be the third branch in Alabama for the credit union. This new full-service branch features safe deposit boxes and a drive-up ATM available 24/7. With the Foley branch opening, the Pen Air FCU location at the Wharf in Orange Beach will close its doors and relocate into the Foley branch.

Service Credit Union, Portsmouth, N.H., recently celebrated the opening of its 40th branch worldwide. The new full-service branch with a deposit-taking ATM is located on Ashleigh Drive inside the Walmart Supercenter in Derry, N.H. The full-service branch offers complete seven-day banking services, mortgages, consumer loans, and a full-service ATM.

Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union, Tampa, Fla., marked the grand opening of its newest branch on N. Armenia Avenue in West Tampa with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The first 25 people who opened an account at the branch will received $5 toward a new account, and all new and current members were be entered into a drawing to win one of two Apple iPads.Members of the community are invited to join the credit union in celebrating the opening of its first branch in five years, for a total of 51 branches throughout 15 counties in the state of Florida. In addition to the West Tampa branch, Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union also plans to open another branch in 2012 in Chiefland, Fla. VyStar Credit Union, Jacksonville, Fla., has partnered with Ribault High School to establish a student-operated credit union branch on the school campus. The branch marks the second branch in Duval County and the fifth high school branch in northeast Florida. The VyStar Credit Union Ribault branch will be open only to Ribault High School students, teachers and staff members. The branch will be staffed entirely by Ribault High School students. VyStar accepted applications from students within the VyStar Academy of Business and Finance at Ribault High School. n
