The $25.1 billion, 1.8-million member State Employees' Credit Union said it has now opened three new branches in Greensboro, N.C., since March with another set to open by the end of the year.

Raleigh-based SECU, the nation's largest state-chartered credit union, said it now has nine locations in Greensboro as the credit union's growth continues in the Triad area (Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem) of the Tarheel State.

SECU now has 244 branches in all 100 North Carolina counties. “SECU's growth in membership and expansion of products and financial advisory services demonstrate the need for continued brick- and-mortar personal service,” the credit union said in a statement.

“We are very pleased with the growth in the Greensboro/Guilford County area. The credit union has made great strides in finding new facility locations to provide convenience for existing and future SECU members in this area,” said Damian Carter, SECU senior vice president of the Greensboro-West Market Street branch.

SECU said its 2012 Member Survey conducted by CUNA Research showed that SECU branches are sited an average of five to seven miles from members' homes and places of work.
