WEST

Salal Credit Union, Seattle, recently hired Geoff Swarts to fill the position of senior vice president and chief financial officer. It also announced the appointments of Skott Pope to senior vice president–retail financial services, Matt Vance to senior product development supervisor and Michelle Purnell-Hepburn to vice president, controller. Swarts comes to Salal after 30 years with Bank of America where he served held various senior vice president level positions. Pope started out at Whatcom Educational Credit Union, moved to vice president of education and development with the Washington Credit Union League and most recently at BECU, Pope was senior manager of member solutions. Vance comes to Salal after seven years as marketing and community manager at Industrial Credit Union. 

San Antonio Credit Union, San Antonio, announced that Laura Johnston has joined its executive team as chief marketing officer. She will be responsible for all traditional, online and digital marketing and communications, as well as overseeing business development and community investment for the credit union. Prior to coming to SACU, Johnston held senior-level marketing positions with Travelocity, Bank of America and, most recently, with Ally Bank. She also worked in online sales  and service with Google. Johnston completed her graduate studies at the University of California at Los Angeles, where she earned her MBA specializing in marketing and information technology. She graduated from Holy Cross College in Massachusetts with a BA in political science and from the University of Chicago with an M.A. in Middle Eastern Studies.

Unitus Community Credit Union, Portland, Ore., announced the hiring of Denise Stewart as business development officer. In this role, Stewart will be responsible for leading strategic consumer and business development campaigns to raise the credit union's profile in key markets and grow its membership base. Stewart previously held business development positions at Wells Fargo, US Bank and Key Bank.  At Wells Fargo, Stewart was instrumental in developing the bank's successful microbusiness lending program, Unitus Community said.

MIDWEST

Prospera Credit Union, Appleton, Wis., has hired Jeff Garrett as senior financial adviser. Garrett has nearly 13 years of investment services experience and has been in the credit union industry for nine years. He earned his bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from Utah State University and after practicing architecture for 15 years made a career change to become a financial adviser. 

Veridian Credit Union, Ankeny, Iowa, announced that Cindy Van Donselaar has been hired as public relations strategist. Van Donselaar was previously director of communication and member relations for Key Cooperative in Sully, Iowa. She has degrees in communication and history from Central College. 

SOUTH

DuPont Community Credit Union, Waynesboro, Va., announced that Angie Bandy has been promoted to vice president of accounting and administration. Bandy has 18 years of banking experience, and six years with DCCU. Most recently she held the position of controller and has also served as vice president of finance. Bandy graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. She is also a certified internal auditor. 

Founders Federal Credit Union, Lancaster, S.C., recently announced several management changes. Ken Ackerman has been named regional vice president, Region 1 and will oversee the credit union's offices in Lancaster and Chesterfield counties. A graduate of Lancaster High School and the University of South Carolina, with a bachelor of science in business administration, Ackerman joined Founders in 1991. Brian Mickleberry assumes the role of vice president of the Pageland office in addition to the Chesterfield and Cheraw offices. Mickleberry graduated from Cheraw High School and the University of South Carolina, where he received a bachelor of science in business administration. Mickleberry joined Founders in 2006. Sharon Teague will serve as vice president of Founders Federal Credit Union's Peachtree Plaza and White Street offices in Fort Mill, as well as the Indian Land office she already oversees. Teague joined Founders in 1991. She is a Winthrop University graduate with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Keith Wilson has been named regional vice president, Region 3. In his new role, Wilson will oversee Spartanburg County offices as well as the Chester, Clinton and Laurens locations.  Wilson is a graduate of Winthrop University with a bachelor of science in business administration. Denise Helms has been named vice president of Founders Federal Credit Union's Gaffney office. Helms will continue to oversee the credit union's Gold Hill Road office in Fort Mill and Arrowood location in Charlotte. A graduate of Central Piedmont Community College, Helms has an associate degree in marketing and business. David Hicklin has been promoted to assistant vice president of Founders Federal Credit Union's Chester office. David joined Founders in 2009 and currently serves as a loan officer in Fort Mill. A graduate of Lewisville High School and Presbyterian College, Hicklin has a bachelor of science in business administration and management. Ann Hayes, who most recently served as assistant vice president of the Chester office, has been named a vice president overseeing the Chester, Laurens and Clinton offices of Founders Federal Credit Union. Hayes joined Founders in 1993. She attended Winthrop University and USCL.

Credit Union Toolbox, Holmdel, N.J., a provider of marketing and professional development solutions,  announces the appointment of Laura Enock as managing editor. Enock is now responsible for content and credit union relations. Enock has been active in the credit union movement for more than 15 years, working with credit unions to bring their mortgage programs in-house and increase loan volume, in addition to advancing their marketing and public relations capacities. Enock launched  PR Insight and Teaching Smart Money Management columns for CUES and works on the editorial cartoons for Credit Union Times.
