Bert J. Hash Jr., president/CEO of the $1.2 billion Municipal Employees Credit Union of Baltimore, was named as the 2012 CUES Outstanding Chief Executive.
Hash has led MECU for more than 15 years. During that time, MECU grew from 57,573 members with $435 million in assets, to a 100,048 members with $1.2 billion in assets, CUES said.

MECU has also received many awards and recognitions for its service and commitment to the community. In 2010, Morgan State University of Baltimore created an award in Hash's honor to acknowledge his unwavering commitment to the development of young people. The Bert J. Hash, Jr. Mentoring Award is given annually to an honors student there. He also serves on many boards within the community and the industry.
He also was named CEO of the Year in the 2007 Trailblazer Awards from Credit Union Times.
