Shirley McKinney, a 53-year-old former manager at the now-dissolved Anderson County Employees Federal Credit Union, admitted to stealing $242,511.80 from the $1.8 million credit union in 2008 and 2009, court documents show.

According to a representative from the state criminal court office in Anderson County, Tenn., court documents say McKinney pleaded guilty to one count of theft of more than $60,000, two counts of forgery totaling between $10,000 and $60,000, and two counts of forgery by endorsement.

She is to report to jail on Oct. 4 to serve a nine-and-a-half-month sentence followed by a probationary period, and is required to repay the stolen money in full, according to the state criminal court office.

A Tennessee Bureau of Investigation news release states McKinney, a resident of Harriman, Tenn., was indicted by the Anderson County Grand Jury and arrested on one count of theft and four counts of forgery in August 2011.

McKinney made unauthorized withdrawals from members' accounts while working as a manager for Anderson County Employees FCU, said TBI, which completed an investigation of the case.

Anderson County Employees FCU merged into the $188 million Knoxville Teachers Federal Credit Union of Knoxville, Tenn. in 2010, according to Knoxville Teachers FCU.

At the time of the merger, Anderson County Employees FCU served about 450 members including teachers and employees of Tennessee's Anderson County, Knoxville Teachers FCU said.
