Like the membership it serves, Marine FCU was willing to sacrifice for the cause, although in this case it was just a pie in the face. Craig Chamberlin, president/CEO of the $719 million Marine FCU in Jacksonville, N.C., got the sweet reward after his staff and members raised $11,000 to provide a service dog to a 4-year-old girl in need. Efforts to raise the money included gift basket drawings, ice cream socials, blue jean days and selling meals, as well as raffling off the parking spaces of Chamberlin and Bob Dickerson, the credit union's executive vice president. In fact, Dickerson also got to eat pie on the final day of fundraising, as did Chief Operating Officer Jeff Clark and Chief Financial Officer Terry Shepard. Marine FCU serves Camp Lejeune and other Marines facilities in North Carolina and Virginia as well as select business affiliates.
