The $143 million Mountain Credit Union in Waynesville, N.C., is taking part in the political process in a most bi-partisan way, hosting voter registration drives.
The 19,300-member credit union is partnering with the North Carolina Credit Union League to hold voter registration drives on at its seven branches in Franklin, Sylva, Cherokee, Candler, Waynesville, Fletcher and Asheville.
The drives will be held on Wednesday and Thursday this week and on Sept. 18-19. The league's Pam Melton will be at each branch to help host the events, Mountain CU said.
The drives will include voter registration forms, as well as pre-registering 16-17 year olds to vote and providing forms for party affiliation changes and address and name changes.
The last day to register in North Carolina to vote in the Nov. 6 election is Oct. 12.
