The $1.3 billion, 117,300-member American Heritage Federal Credit Union in Philadelphia was recognized for the second year in a row for its environmental efforts.

American Heritage said it again this week received a Platinum Level award from the Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association, the second consecutive year.

The association noted the credit union's Green Team efforts that include employee bike racks, commuting subsidies and a telecommuting program, as well as geo-thermal heating and cooling in new building projects.

The credit union also established employee gardens on its ground this year, with vegetables sold back to employees and the proceeds going to Philabundance and Aids for Friends.

American Heritage said it also participates in Adopt-A-Highway, recycles glasses, cell phones and toner cartridges, and sponsors local schools in a reusable bag project.
