The Ohio Credit Union Foundation recently gained nearly $30,000 in donations from its annual golf classic.

The OCUF said the money, which was garnered from the support of Ohio credit unions, support organizations, employees and volunteers, will be directed at future generations in the form of financial education and outreach programs in 2013.

More than 170 people participated in the event, which had 27 different sponsors, with Frost Financial Services acting as the leading sponsor, the foundation said. It was held on Aug. 13 at the Foxfire Golf Club just south of Columbus.

OCUF Chair Stan Barnes said that the foundation has granted more than $140,000 to credit unions this year, including grants for financial education and scholarships for high school and college students.

He added that the donations have also been used for professional development of credit union board and staff, as well as for providing assistance to members affected by Ohio's June wind storm.

The foundation said that its goal is to raise $200,000 by the end of 2012 to help further its cause.
