Credit unions scored a headliner for Wednesday's playground ribbon cutting ceremony during the Republican National Convention: Ann Romney, wife of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will unveil the charitable “leave behind” convention project, a therapeutic playground for All Children's Hospital in Tampa, made possible by CUNA, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions and National Journal Group.
The playground will serve young patients with special play equipment designed for the rehabilitation process.
“America's credit unions are honored to have Ms. Romney attend this important event that so vividly demonstrates credit unions' involvement in their communities and their philosophy of 'people helping people,'” said CUNA President/CEO Bill Cheney.
The playground renovation was made possible through fundraising and volunteer efforts spearheaded by the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation, in conjunction with CUNA, which has a history of leave-behind projects in conjunction with the National Party conventions. National Journal Group has partnered with CUNA for the last two conventions on leave-behind projects.
