CUNA, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions and the North Carolina Credit Union League were finalizing their plans this week to meet and greet delegates convening in Tampa, Fla., and Charlotte, N.C., for the national political conventions.

The GOP festivities start Sunday in Tampa and the LSCU said it is making final arrangements for its reception functions inviting lawmakers and other civic leaders to league-sponsored events during the weeklong nomination fete.

One of the highlights in both cities will be CUNA's “leave behind” project in which the trade groups along with the National Journal hold ribbon cutting ceremonies to mark the launch of constructing or retrofitting playground facilities at children's hospitals.

The equipment purchases are being paid for with donations from CUNA, individual credit unions, the leagues and their foundations. The ribbon cutting for the retrofitting of equipment at All Children's Hospital in nearby St. Petersburg will be Aug. 29.

Meanwhile, the North Carolina League said it has invited top management of credit unions in North and South Carolina to take part in a special delegate reception Sept. 5 at the Aria Tucson Grill at 5:30 p. m. preceded in the morning by the groundbreaking ceremony at Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte.
