Robert "Bob" Neill, vice chairman of the board of directors of the $533 million Christian Community Credit Union in San Dimas, Calif., has died after a long battle with cancer, the credit union said.

Neill is a former chair and executive committee member who has served on the board for more than 16 years. The San Francisco native also served for 16 years as senior pastor at Christ First Baptist Church of Covina, Calif., until 2008 and as director of camping ministries for the American Baptist Churches of the Pacific Southwest from 1984 to 1992.

"Bob's amazing life and ministry, his ready smile and encouragement –and courage – will be a constant reminder to all of us that this is what faithfulness and fruitfulness look like. We will continue to pray faithfully for Sue and the Neill family," said John Pearson, current board chair.

Neill, 66, died Aug. 4. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sue, and by three daughters and their husbands, seven grandchildren and another grandchild due next month, the credit union said.

Christian Community Credit Union now has more than 29,000 members and has served the financial needs of Christian ministries, churches and their members nationally and internationally for more than 55 years.
