Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union, Aberdeen, Md., announced a new business partnership with Bay View Elementary School in North East, Md. The partnership was announced during BVES's Spring Fling Night by Principal Jenni Hammer. Tina Mike, assistant vice president of financial education, and Digna Barretto, financial literacy educator represented APGFCU. With this partnership, APGFCU will make financial education presentations in classrooms for every grade level, host free money management seminars for parents, school staff and community members and provide recognition and reward incentives for student and school achievement. Since 1995, APGFCU has partnered with five other schools in Cecil and Harford counties providing free financial literacy programs and wealth-building resources to youth and adults, tailored to the needs of the school community. APGFCU received the inaugural Lifetime Achiever Award in 2011 by the national Education Credit Union Council in recognition of its long-term strategy for delivering financial education. Last year, the credit union delivered nearly 430 financial presentations to over 10,150 students in Cecil and Harford counties.  

Coastal Empire Credit Union Chapter, Duluth, Ga., of Georgia Credit Union Affiliates,  recently welcomed the cyclists of the Cabot Creamery 2012 Community Tour to Savannah, Ga. The tour was created to celebrate cooperatives during the International Year of Cooperatives, the chapter said. The cyclists enjoyed an overnight stop in Savannah during their 2,300-mile bicycle ride along the East Coast Greenway. The expedition started in Miami on May 12 and ended on July 7 in Portland, Maine. At the reception held at the downtown SpringHill Suites in May, the chapter provided snacks and beverages to refresh the cyclists. 

Community First Credit Union, Jacksonville Fla., recently gave JumpingFish, a nonprofit group that advocates for First Coast waterways through athletics, a $1,000 grant. The award was given as part of Community First's "Investing in You" contest to fund the "Up the River 12-Mile Swim for the St. Johns" awareness initiative. The event was Jacksonville's first long distance swim in the St. Johns River. The mission of the Up the River project was to preserve St. Johns River, said Jim Alabiso, founder of Jumpingfish and the Up the River project. The project is the first of six winning community improvement ideas to receive $1,000 each in this summer's contest. The initiative launched in April, invites anyone with an idea to make the First Coast a better place to participate. 

Community West Credit Union, Kentwood, Mich., will be giving $25,000 worth of iPads to the young adults of its community during the "Summer of the iPad" giveaway. This initiative will provide iPads to recent high school graduates and current college undergraduates as they pursue their careers or further their education. The idea for this promotion came from the marketing department and Community West's CEO/President Jon Looman as a way to show support for the community and give back a patronage dividend to its membership base, while also helping its younger members. To be eligible to win a giveaway, an individual must be between the ages of 18 and 23 years old and a member of Community West Credit Union.

Fort Campbell Federal Credit Union, Clarksville, Tenn., showed their support for the military by treating active duty military and their families to a complimentary movie. For the past five years, Fort Campbell FCU has sponsored Warrior Week Movie Night at the Great Escape Movie Theatre. This year 332 active duty soldiers and family members came out for the movie "Chimpanzee" by Disney Nature. 

Freedom Federal Credit Union, Bel Air, Md., provided 13 Harford County elementary schools with incentives to their students to complete their Patriot program requirements. Freedom FCU provides successful students with an incentive of a knapsack or T-shirt. Both items feature the Patriot program logo. Each school reported positive growth in the program and credited the incentives as contributing to this success. The program helps students learn about patriotism and America's past, present and future, as well as national geographic facts. The Patriot programs are supported at Bakerfield Elementary, Bel Air Elementary, Emmorton Elementary, Forest Lakes Elementary, Havre de Grace Elementary, Joppatowne Elementary, Norrisville Elementary, Prospect Mill Elementary, Red Pump Elementary, Ring Factory Elementary, William S. James Elementary, William Paca/Old Post Road Elementary and Youth's Benefit Elementary. The programs are developed by the schools' PTAs, school administrators, teachers, parent volunteers and Freedom FCU. Rose Ann Lambert, president/CEO of Freedom FCU, Mike Dilworth, senior vice president of marketing, and Patrice Ricciardi, business development specialist, participated in the schools' awards assemblies held at the end of this past school year.  

MidSouth Community Federal Credit Union, Macon, Ga., held a Coney Island-style family celebration for the grand opening of its newest branch location in Macon. 

Entertainment included appearances by artist, Mark Ballard; the magician, Mike Fuller; and the JA-DA Barbershop Quartet. A carousel, photo booth, Coney Island dogs, Cracker Jacks, Sno Cones and other prizes were given to the attendees.  

Riverset Credit Union, Pittsburgh, sponsored the 2012 Pittsburgh Pridefest last month. Two-time Grammy winner, Melissa Etheridge, served as the Pride in the Street headliner. Those who stopped by Riverset's booth were given a photo-strip in remembrance of the event, displaying the message, "At Riverset, all of our members are equal." Pittsburgh Pride is an event coordinated each year by the Delta Foundation of Pittsburgh, whose mission is to increase awareness and improve the quality of life for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender  community in western Pennsylvania.

San Diego County Credit Union,San Diego, announced it is supporting the local performing arts community as a sponsor of the Broadway/San Diego 2012-2013 season. The 2012-2013 season includes "Wicked," "Memphis," "La Cage Aux Folles," "Les Miserables," "Jekyll & Hyde" and "Peter Pan." In 2013, scheduled shows include "Rain, A Tribute to the Beatles," "Billy Elliot,"  "American Idiot" and "Sister Act." Broadway/San Diego is part of the Nederlander Producing Company of America, an operator of live theater. 

San Francisco Federal Credit Union, San Francisco, held a tailgate and mixer last month at their financial district branch. The staff celebrated the San Francisco Giants and met with potential customers. Members and visitors of the tailgate were given the opportunity to enter a raffle to win two Giants' tickets or one of two $25 Giants' Dugout store gift cards. San Francisco FCU opened its financial district branch early this year.

St. Anne's Credit Union, Fall River, Mass., helped serve dinner to individuals in need at Sacred Heart parish soup kitchen in Fall River. Employees served a hot meal of roasted chicken, homemade pierogies, vegetables, garden salad and dessert to nearly 175 individuals. Sacred Heart soup kitchen serves dinner every Monday night.
