With a recent $25,000 donation to the Chesterfield Economic Development Alliance, Founders Federal Credit Union said it wants to do its part to help create more jobs in the area.

The $1.7 billion cooperative in Lancaster, S.C., is supporting the alliance's local initiatives, said Brian Mickleberry, vice president of Founders' Cheraw branch.

The economic alliance falls under the purview of the Chesterfield County Economic Development Board. Its mission is to increase capital investment and create new jobs, according to the agency's website. The CCEDB provides site selection assistance, incentive negotiations, and serves as a liaison for regulatory issues for new and existing business and industry.

The CCEDB also coordinates strategic planning and target industry studies, development of industrial sites and parks, speculative buildings and infrastructure, workforce training and development, demographic information management and provides support of tourism and downtown development as needed.

Mickleberry said the partnership between Founders and the economic alliance will go a long way in making the surrounding communities better.

Founders serves more than 189,000 members.
