The $598 million Kennedy Space Center Federal Credit Union in Merritt Island, Fla., has tapped Joe Mirachi as its new CEO.
Mirachi had been president/CEO at the $137 million Tucson Old Pueblo Credit Union in Arizona.
He joined TOPCU in September 2008 at the height of the financial crisis and under his leadership the credit union focused on improving operating efficiencies, strengthening employee development processes, and enhancing member service capabilities, his new employer said.
As a result, despite a challenging economic environment, TOPCU posted strong net income for 2010 and 2011, Kennedy Space Center FCU said in a statement.
Before leading TOPCU, Mirachi also held a number of senior management positions, including chief financial officer and executive vice president over a 12-year span at Kirtland FCU in Albuquerque, N.M.
He holds a degree in economics from Ramapo College, a graduate certificate from the American Institute of Banking, and an MBA in management from Baruch College.
