The NCUA has released the agency's June video economic update.
The latest installment in the free monthly YouTube series includes the usual economic analysis, and also provides an update on the status of the corporate credit union system.
In the video, NCUA Chief Economist John Worth reviews recent economic indicators and events, and explains how these developments affect credit union balance sheets, including changes in housing markets, employment rates, new construction starts, and consumer purchases.
It also features a 10-minute interview with David Shetler, deputy director of NCUA's Office of Corporate Credit Unions. The conversation highlights recent developments in the corporate credit union sector, provides a general outlook about where the sector is going, and explains what these developments will mean for natural person credit unions.
