The $394 million Kellogg Community Federal Credit Union in Battle Creek, Mich., recently spiced up lunch hour at Lakeview Middle School with a financial literacy Quiz Bowl for the fifth- through eighth-graders. Pitting boys against girls added to the excitement as the six contestants from each grade buzzed in when they had the answer to questions about financial literacy.

“Having the opportunity to expose children to the crucial subject matter of financial responsibility is one of my greatest pleasures,” said Kristyn Denison, KCFCU's educational specialist. “My goal is to teach students the importance of managing money in a fun environment where students get excited about saving.”

The eighth grade girls team was Ellie Denison, Lila Elliott and Aiden Baum.
