The $2.9 billion San Antonio Federal Credit Union recently hosted U.S. Rep. Francisco Canseco (R-Texas) and his wife at a town hall meeting for the credit union's employees.
Canseco, a freshman lawmaker from San Antonio, has been a supporter of credit union initiatives, most recently co-sponsoring H.R. 3461, the Financial Institution Examination Fairness Bill, and H.R. 4367, a bill to amend the Electronic Fund Transfer Act to limit the fee disclosure requirement, SACU said.
"This Town Hall Meeting is an opportunity to hear the Congressman speak on what is happening in San Antonio," said the credit union's government relations officer, Yvonne De La Rosa. "Whether you live in his district, these issues in our country affect us all. Being able to listen to and ask questions of someone directly involved in making laws is a unique opportunity."
The session was at the credit union's main offices. SACU said it now serves more than 255,000 members from 17 locations in San Antonio and one in Houston.
