Patty Idol, president of the $138 million Mountain Credit Union in Waynesville, N.C, has been appointed to serve as a director on the NASCUS Credit Union Executive Council.

Idol will fill the unexpired term of Jim Blaine, president/CEO of the $24 billion State Employees' Credit Union of Raleigh, who chose not to seek re-election after more than a decade of service on the council, NASCUS said. The term runs until September.

The appointment was made by Cathie Tierney, council chairman and president/CEO of the $1.5 billion Community First Credit Union in Appleton, Wis.

Idol has been president of the 19,000-member Mountain Credit Union since 1999 and currently is vice chairman of the board at the North Carolina Credit Union League, NASCUS said.

“NASCUS is pleased to welcome Patty to the Credit Union Executive Council,” said President/CEO Mary Martha Fortney. “She has been an active contributor to NASCUS and the state credit union system for many years and we are grateful for her willingness to serve.”

Fortney added, “Jim's contributions to NASCUS and his dedication to the state charter have been especially meaningful to our organization's work over the years. We thank him for his outstanding service to NASCUS.”
