Helping youth learn to handle finances is an international venture for the Connecticut International Partnership Committee of the Credit Union League of Connecticut. The group traveled to the Caribbean last month to help a colleague in Trinidad & Tobago create a Financial Reality Fair as her project for graduating from CaribDE. Newly minted Development Educator Michele Wallace is finance manager at COPOS Credit Union in San Fernando, Trinidad. The Connecticut group donated a Financial Reality Fair template much like the one used back home and volunteers came to help adapt the program for youth in the island nation.

Also participating were John Keet, CEO, Personal Care America FCU; Carol Bayreuther, CEO, Hartford Healthcare FCU; Barb Bass, league vice president; Keith Wiemert, CEO, Seasons FCU; Kathy Chartier, CEO, Members CU; and Gerry Singleton of CUNA Mutual, a recent CaribDE graduate and volunteer from Financial Reality Fairs during the GAC in Washington D.C.

Below, Joanne Todd, CEO of the $70 million Northeast Family FCU in Manchester, Conn., helps a student participant at the fair.
