The World Council of Credit Unions is still taking nominations for its Young Credit Union People scholarship program this summer in Poland.

The program will be held in conjunction with the World Credit Union Conference set for July 15-18 in Gdask.  Five participants will be chosen for the WYCUP program, which the World Council said is designed to foster professional growth of talented professionals and volunteers age 35 and under.

The program includes general sessions, education and networking opportunities specifically for younger professionals held parallel to the overall conference. Highlights will include being introduced on the stage during the closing celebration in the Gdask Shipyard, birthplace of the Solidarity movement.

“The WYCUP program seeks individuals who have already made significant contributions to the development of their own credit unions or regional/national credit union systems and have demonstrated the potential to employ their unique talents at the international level,” the World Council said.

Nomination forms and other information are online. The deadline is June 1.

“One of the true signs of any profession is the willingness of its practitioners to educate the next generation of leadership,” said Brian Branch, president/CEO of the World Council in Madison, Wis. “The WYCUP program does that, assuring that credit unions worldwide will thrive to serve future generations of members.”
