The $221 million Heritage Credit Union in Madison, Wis., has created a new Pink Hope checking account that includes a $5 donation to fight breast cancer with each account opened and a rounding up feature to generate even more funds.
The 22,500-member HCU said it will donate $5 to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research with each opening, and that each transaction on debit cards from the account will be rounded up to the nearest dollar and the difference transferred into a Pink Hope donation account.
The free checking account has no minimum balance or service charges and HCU has launched a website for the effort.
HCU was originally founded in1934 to serve employees of Oscar Meyer & Company and now has branches in Madison, Milwaukee, Sauk City, Prairie du Sac, Chetek and Ladysmith, Wis., and in Rockford and Galesburg, Ill.
