The Michigan Credit Union League on Monday provided more details on the ramp up of its CU Link awareness blitz that includes television, radio and online channels including Twitter and Facebook.

That part of the awareness campaign is costing $2.8 million. The league also is launching a new “Own Your Money Sweepstakes” promotion lasting through June 27.

“The sweepstakes is designed to create excitement about winning a prize to gain consumers' and members' attention for credit unions,” the league said in detailing the joint blitz costing $3.3 million.

“Today is a big day for the credit union industry in Michigan,” it said in its announcement.

The league said radio spots promoting the sweepstakes portion will run from May 28 through June 24.  More than a thousand instant prizes worth $20,000 will be awarded during the 45-day period, said the league.

“A Web banner on your site will drive your members to watch a member-focused video and enter the contest,” the league told members. Lobby displays, newsletter copy, on-hold phone messages and email blasts also are part of the kit.

The Facebook and Twitter pages launch Monday, the league said, stressing that the voluntary campaign's success depends on the participation of member credit unions.

“It is imperative that credit unions are committed to regularly monitoring and responding to follower inquiries related to financial questions, liking our updates, commenting on posts, sharing posts, and starting conversations,” said the league. “Your credit union's participation builds brand awareness for your credit union and can generate leads.
